An Indiana native and graduate of the University of Indiana School of Medicine, Dr. Leonard was first drawn to North Carolina during his residency program.

For more than 20 years, Dr. Leonard has been practicing in Carthage and treating all ages, from newborns to the elderly.

“We provide general health maintenance, chronic disease management and treat all sorts of acute conditions,” Dr. Leonard says. “I really enjoy the variety of challenges that family medicine provides.”

The office will be closed on Monday, May 6 for training, but will reopen as FirstHealth Family Medicine-Carthage on Tuesday, May 7. Office hours and phone numbers will remain the same.

“I am thrilled to join FirstHealth, which is a first-class organization,” Dr. Leonard says.  “I look forward to being able to provide additional services to our patients by utilizing FirstHealth’s many excellent resources.”

The practice will transition to FirstHealth’s Epic electronic health record, providing Dr. Leonard’s patients with access to an online patient portal through FirstHealth MyChart. MyChart allows patients the opportunity to manage appointments, review test results, communicate with their provider and even refill a prescription all from the convenience of a phone, tablet or computer.

According to Dan Barnes, D.O., president of the FirstHealth Physician Group, Dr. Leonard’s practice is a welcome addition to the FirstHealth network.

“Dr. Leonard has been devoted to serving the health care needs of the Carthage community for a number of years,” Dr. Barnes says. “We look forward to this partnership to continue to provide quality health care to his patients.”
