On Saturday, February 10th, Pinehurst United Methodist Church sponsored its 4th Biennial Chocolate Festival.
The festival featured a cupcake competition, chocolate-baked goods, chocolate-themed gifts, and a doughnut bar with hot chocolate.
The three beneficiaries of this event were The Bethany House, Moore Free and Charitable Clinic, and Prancing Horse Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc.
The Bethany House, Inc is a home dedicated to providing a clean and sober living environment for women recovering from substance abuse in the south-central region of North Carolina. The non-profit charitable corporation houses adult women who are motivated to continue their recovery. It offers a minimum six-month stay. Residents must attend AA or NA meetings.
Moore Free Care Clinic, founded in 2004 is committed to the belief that health care is a basic human need. Everyone must have access to basic health care if a community is to be truly healthy. Clinic health care services include: primary and preventative medical care, comprehensive care for acute illness: continuing care for asthma, hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic illness, resource information and health education, specialty care clinics, prescription support, non-narcotic prescription support in conjunction with various pharmaceutical companies and referral service for dental, surgeries, specialty care laboratory and x-rays.
The mission of the Prancing Horse Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc is to enhance the lives of individuals who have special needs y providing an safe environment for therapeutic horsemanship The new 30-acre farm at 1600 Hoffman Road offers horsemanship programs for clients from age 3 to over 50. Riders include children from Sandhills Children’s Center, six public school exceptional needs classes and adults, dependents of active duty military with special needs.
