Moore County Amateur Radio Club

For MOCARS, 2019 is off to a very busy start, beginning with Winter Field Day and support of the Uwharrie Mountain Run, an 8, 20 or 40 mile ultra-marathon.

Perhaps you have heard that ham radio operators assist in times of natural disaster (fires, floods, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes) or other critical situations where reliable communications are necessary.

Did you know that there are over 150 licensed ham radio operators in Moore county? All are ready, able and prepared to help in times of crises.  Amateur radio has the unique capability to provide communications when no other means are available.  For reliable, alternative communications or an enjoyable hobby, take a look at amateur/ham radio.

Moore County has an active amateur radio club, the Moore County Amateur Radio Society (MOCARS).  Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month (except December) at 7:00p.m. at the Health Department, 705 Pinehurst Ave., Carthage NC. Meetings are open to all interested, you do not have to be a ham to attend. Periodic licensing exams are held the third Saturday of odd months at 9:00am, also at the Health Department.

For further information visit the Club website at www.mocars.org or contact James Johnson at 910-400-3019.  Come join us in an exciting, lifelong activity.

When all other forms of communications fail, ham radio is there ready, willing and able to support communication needs.
