The Sophisticated Ladies are a well-known senior Rockette-style dance group who provide entertainment for area retirement homes and community events. The Sophisticated Ladies was founded by a retired NYC Rockette, Barbara Hamm, and recently celebrated their 30-year Anniversary.

The dancers are starting the Christmas season performing to choreographed show tunes including “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B”, “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, “Let It Snow”, and “Frosty”- including a dancer dressed as Frosty.

Their retirement home performances this season include Pinehurst Rehab on December 5 at 11 a.m., Gracious Living on December 12 at 2 p.m., and Quail Haven on December 15 at 3 p.m.. They have several  private Christmas performances including the Republican Women’s Club,  The Seven Lakes North Community Center, and the Filipino-American Community.

Announcer Bev Wetherbie describes the history of the dance group and gives information about each of the songs that are being performed by the ladies, who wear colorful costumes and “big smiles.”
