Women’s Group to Host Coalition Director

The Women of Seven Lakes will hold their November membership meeting at 2 p.m.on Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Chapel in the Pines. The guest speaker will be Stephen Phillips, executive director of the Sandhills Coalition. Phillips will speak on the work of the Coalition and volunteering.

Phillips has a long career in healthcare and returned to Pinehurst in 2013 to work in senior living. Since the spring of 2021, he has served as the executive director of the Sandhills Moore Coalition for Human Care.

The Coalition was established in 1986 by 11 local churches to serve the emergency needs of Moore County residents in crisis. Today, the Coalition is supported by over 70 area churches, the United Way of Moore County, individuals, businesses and local civic groups.

If you would like to meet Phillips and learn more about the Coalition and the many benefits of volunteering in our community, please plan to attend. There is no cost for members and $5 for non-members. New members are always welcome.

This event will feature a food drive collected by the Women of Seven Lakes members for the Coalition to be collected Only non-perishable items are needed and include: canned pork and beans, rice (one pound bags), canned pasta, milk, oatmeal, cereal, canned meat, canned beans, canned vegetables, boxes of macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce (no glass), jelly (no glass) and peanut butter.

Proceeds from the Coalition Resale Shops contribute about 50 percent of the Coalition’s total annual budget. | Contributed
