Most of the areas that the Seven Lakes Village Beautification Committee has actively maintained were torn up by the recent construction of N.C. 211.
One area not impacted is the Stone Zen Garden at the intersection of Seven Lakes Drive and Carthage Road. This is a busy traffic area, and many tires find their way into the garden area.
The design provides a clean look with minimum maintenance.

Even with this simplicity, some work needs to be done. Al Geiger has regularly raked the garden for many years, and those tire tracks are annoying. You can only rake so much. The stone coverage in the garden had deteriorated.
The SLVBC ordered stone to be added to the garden. Two tons of Alabama Sunset stone was delivered on Tuesday, June 3, by the OAS Garden Center in Carthage.
While volunteers waited for the delivery, they cleaned out accumulated weeds and pine straw. On Wednesday, June 4, volunteers from the SLVBC arrived with racks, shovels and smiles to spread the stone. The garden looks good following this update.
This garden area is dedicated to Terry Hunt who formed, directed, and led the SLVBC for its initial ten years. A plaque in the garden recognizes Terry.
