While members have been enjoying a summer break, the Women of Seven Lakes Board has been planning an exciting and engaging program for the 2025-26 year.
Members are invited to bring friends and neighbors to “Be Our Guests” at the first meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. at The Chapel in the Pines. Co-Presidents Erin Marzella and Lee Williams will provide an overview of the upcoming year, highlighting ways members can get involved in supporting our community.
A representative from the CARE Group will share how the Women of Seven Lakes can support the organization. The mission of the CARE Group is to equip, empower, and encourage individuals through education, mentoring, and enrichment. It is a merger of Moore Buddies Mentoring and the Moore County Literacy Council.
The meeting will also include a fun icebreaker and an array of delicious snacks.
Members are encouraged to bring school supplies to this meeting — antiseptic wipes, pencils, tissues, Ziploc bags, and glue sticks — to be donated to West End Elementary School.
Upcoming Meetings and Events include:
- Oct. 2 – Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Members are encouraged to wear pink. Dr, Chasse Bailey-Dorton will be the guest speaker, and attendees will create luminaries to be displayed at the community gates in honor of breast cancer awareness.
- Nov. 6 – Brain Health. The club will host Dr. Karen D. Sullivan, an award-winning, board-certified neuropsychologist and author of “I Care for Your Brain: Interactive Stroke Recovery Guide.” She will speak on brain health and wellness.
- January – Social Gathering (TBD). While we skip a formal January meeting due to the holidays, plans are underway for a relaxed social event to reconnect and recharge.
- Feb. 5 – Women’s Heart Health. Continuing tradition, members will wear red in support of Women’s Heart Health. The meeting will include lunch and a fun afternoon of games.
- March 5 – Supporting Women in Crisis. The club will have a speaker from Changing Destinies Ministry, an organization dedicated to supporting women survivors of exploitation and human sex trafficking.
- April 2 – End-of-Life Compassion and Music. The club is scheduled to welcome Maggie Bonecutter from FirstHealth Hospice as speaker.
- May 7 – Annual Meeting and Celebration. The year will conclude with the installation of the new board. A charcuterie demonstration will be the highlight of this festive meeting.
Additional Events will include:
- Blood Drives. The first community blood drive will be held on Nov. 12, with another scheduled in the spring.
- Fundraisers. The Pancake Breakfast will be Saturday, Dec. 6 and the Pasta Dinner is planned for Friday, March 20.
Additional social events are also in the works.
Members are looking forward to a full and meaningful year of community service, learning and fellowship. For the latest details on meetings, events, and opportunities to get involved, visit WomenOfSevenLakes.com.
