Women of Seven Lakes November Membership Meeting

The Women of Seven Lakes will hold a membership meeting on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m,. at the Chapel in the Pines. Guest speaker Karen Sullivan, Ph.D., will present a discussion of “How To Be a Friend to Someone with Brain Change.”

Sullivan is a board-certified neuropsychologist who founded Pinehurst Neuropsychology 12 years ago. This was the first clinic of its kind in the Sandhills that focuses on brain changes in older adults. She is also the creator of the I CARE FOR YOUR BRAIN program, which has over 105,000 YouTube subscribers across the world.

More recently, Sullivan was awarded the Reid Healthcare Transformation Fellowship by the Foundation of FirstHealth to create The Engaged Brains Project, a whole-person care pathway for people living with dementia in the FirstHealth and Pinehurst Medical Clinic systems.

Prior to coming to Pinehurst, Sullivan was an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine. She received her doctoral degree at Boston University and then her fellowship at the VA Boston Healthcare System, through Harvard Medical School.

“Dr. Karen Sullivan is a dynamic speaker, and we are delighted that she has agreed to make this presentation,” said a spokesperson. 

The meeting is free for members and $5 for non-members to attend. There will be a 50/50 raffle, and refreshments will be served.
