County Manager Wayne Vest contacted the SLI in reference to an article regarding the phase out of the Spanish Immersion Program at West End Elementary.
“The commissioners did not eliminate the Spanish Immersion Program,” Vest explained.
Although the Commissioners delegate what funds are permitted to be used for education, it is the School Board that determines how the funds are spent.
“All those decisions are made at the School Board level,” Vest said. “[They determine] what makes the cut.”
