Only two weeks before the start of the international US Kids Tournament, it was decided that Beacon Ridge would help host the tournament at their country club.
The tournament took place from August 3rd – 5th. More than 100 talented young eleven-year-olds gathered to compete on the course.
“[My favorite part of the tournament is] playing,” golfer Gloria Nip said, explaining that golfing is a part of who she is. “I used to live on a golf course, and I still do.”
Many of the young ladies have already participated in more golf tournaments than they can count.
“I’ve done too many [to count],” Lauren Kim said. “It’s just fun to get out on the course and meet new people.”
Morgan Guepet has been competing for about three years. She enjoys the thrill and adrenaline that comes with the competition. “It’s kind of fun to be nervous,” she said.
The young golfers were able to interact with one another and make international friends from more than fifty countries.
“[I love] meeting girls from different countries,” said young golfer Gracie McGovern who participated in her first golf tournament at the age of six. She has won over 75 tournaments over her golfing career.
Beacon Ridge Owner Raymond Oudong was thrilled to host the tournament and is excited to host again for the 2018 and 2019 tournaments.
“I think it’s very good for the Golf Academy,” Oudong said. “I would like to bring junior golfers here.”
