Moore County CAC Annual Luncheon

The Moore County Nursing & Adult Care Homes Community Advisory Committee  (CAC) held its Annual Holiday Luncheon recently at Pinewild following it’s quarterly public meeting.
Vallerie Neysa Murphy was welcomed as a new member. Murphy, who moved from Connecticut toWhispering Pines in 2004,  is a self employed Cosmetologist of 20 years, now working at Studio 22 in Pinehurst.
Murphy holds a degree in nursing and previously worked as an ER nurse. She is the mother of two boys,  Jacob 16 and  Joshua 14.
It was announced that the CAC is in need of new volunteers. The CAC is made up of local citizens who have an interest in serving as advocates for those living in long term care facilities.
Members of the CAC make unannounced visits to facilities on a regular basis, speaking with residents and family members regarding care received. The findings are then shared during an exit meeting with the facility administrator. Reports from each visit are sent to the Moore County Commissioners and the Regional Ombudsman in Raleigh. Reports may be viewed by the public at https://www.moorecountync.gov/community (program and services.).
Committee members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and receive training from the Triangle J Regional Ombudsmen.  Initial terms of appointment to the Committee are for one year and each subsequent appointment is for three years. Those interested may call Sandy Nusbaum, at 910-684-8246.
