Volunteers Needed to Package Thousands of Meals

The Annual Rise Against Hunger Packaging Event will take place on Saturday, September 15th from 8:30AM – 11:00AM at the West End Presbyterian Church.

This annual event focuses on packaging meals for hungry families around the world.  All are invited to participate.

The following churches will have volunteers at the event: Grace Church, Seven Lakes Baptist Church, Chapel in the Pines, West End United Mehodist Church, and West End Presbyterian Church.

Children and adults work at the filling stations to pour highly nutritious dehydrated ingredients into packages.  These ingredients include rise, soy, vegetables, and twenty-one essential vitamins and minerals.

Each package provides a reasonable serving for six and costs just twenty-nine cents to make.

One the ingredients are in the package, they are taken to the sealing stations where packages are properly sealed.

Once packages are sealed, runners collect them and take them to the boxing station where they are sealed up and prepared for delivery.

In 2017, volunteers worked together to package more than 65,000 packages with the help of more than 200 volunteers.

To participate at this event, plan to arrive at 8:30AM on Saturday, September 15th at the West End Presbyterian Church Crawford Center located at 275 Knox Lane in West End.
