Tim Buist, a seasoned finance professional in the senior living industry, has been named president for St. Joseph of the Pines.
Buist brings almost 20 years of medical industry, health care and continuing care experience to his new role, including his most recent stint as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Lutheran Life Communities in Arlington, Ill.
“We are delighted to welcome Tim to this important role in the community and our organization,” said Steve Kastner, president and CEO for Trinity Health Senior Communities. “Since 2006, Tim has held progressive leadership positions across the field of senior living while demonstrating success in business development, operations management and marketing.
“We look forward to his strategic leadership and to the benefits it will bring to St. Joseph of the Pines and its residents.”
Buist replaces Lori Portfleet, who left St. Joseph of the Pines to pursue opportunities more aligned with the broad nature of her personal, professional and leadership interests.
“I am excited and energized about working with the team at St. Joseph of the Pines, and I feel blessed to be part of this special community,” Buist said. “The 70-plus-year history of SJP and its service to the community is inspiring. I look forward to working diligently with the board, my colleagues and the community to continue this mission.”
Buist earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Western Michigan University, an Executive MBA from Florida Gulf Cost University, and a certificate in Executive Management from the University of Notre Dame.
He started at St. Joseph of the Pines on April 29.
St. Joseph of the Pines is an aging services network offering a full continuum of retirement housing, health care and community-based services for older adults as well as community outreach to those in need. It is a Trinity Health Senior Community continuing the legacy of the Sisters of Providence.
