All persons born on or after January 1, 1988 who wish to operate a boat with 10 or more HP anywhere in the state of North Carolina – including Lake Auman — MUST first pass a Boating Safety Course by NC law. Seven Lakes West, in conjunction with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, will be offering such a course on September 16 and September 17 free of charge. It is a 6 hour course offered from 6 – 9 pm on Monday and Tuesday 9/16 – 9/17, and will be administered by NCWRC Officers Garrett A. Gooch and Zack Lemonds. It will be held at the Seven Lakes West Community Center and it is opened to residents of Seven Lakes West, North, and South as well as McLendon Hills.

North Carolina Requirement & Certification – All persons born on or after January 1, 1988, who will operate a boat with 10 hp or more within North Carolina, must first pass the Boating Safety Course. Upon passing, the enrollee will receive a certificate (license) authorizing them to operate such a boat within the state.
