PINEHURST—From a young age, Alicia Libby, PA-C knew she wanted to practice medicine. The newest addition to FirstHealth Cancer Services and Pinehurst Medical Clinic, she is enthused to bring her experience and passion to the Moore County team.
“I have always been intrigued by the science of medicine and the artful execution of a skilled provider,” Alicia said. “I was able to obtain a broad foundation while working in emergency and urgent care, but I am thrilled to have the opportunity to tailor my skills as a physician assistant in the field of oncology.”
Alicia will be a member of Pinehurst Medical Clinic and serve patients at FirstHealth Outpatient Cancer Center in Pinehurst. “Oncology is an amazingly dynamic subspecialty and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” she said.
Originally from Callahan, Florida, she has had the opportunity to practice medicine across the United States. Alicia comes to the Sandhills community from UC Health Urgent Care in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she worked for three years. In addition, she gained more than four years of experience working in emergency medicine and cardiovascular surgery in LaGrange and Columbus, Georgia.
When her husband’s job resulted in a move to North Carolina, Alicia decided the Pinehurst community was among her top workplace locations.
“My husband is an officer in the Army, and he relocated our family to Fort Bragg,” she said. “I was first drawn to Pinehurst due to the area’s access to health care specialties through Pinehurst Medical Clinic along with the abundance of resources provided by FirstHealth.”
Alicia earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Stetson University in Deland, Florida, and holds a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Aside from work, she said she enjoys spending time with family, hiking and hot yoga. She has been married to her husband, Chad, for 10 years. The pair keeps busy with their two sons, ages five years and 18 months, and their cuddly Jack Russell terrier, Jersey.
