Spring Is Here!

Saturday, March 20th marks the official first day of Spring in 2021, but what is the best way to enjoy nature’s sunshine?  Here are some ideas perfect for the whole family!

One unexpected option is to visit the mountains.

It may feel a bit contradictory to visit the mountains as the weather begins to warm up (instead of the beach, per say), but the NC mountains are glorious during this time of year!

Fortunately, Seven Lakes is just a couple short hours from sites such as the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain.

Why visit at this time of year?  Spring is when the mountain wildflowers begin to bloom, creating an illustrious view for all travelers!

If the mountains aren’t calling your name, then perhaps a trip to the seashore!

The gentle warmth of Spring may be the perfect time to take the family on a trip to the ocean before the Summer boom hits.  By my count, the ocean is just 2-2.5 hours from Seven Lakes – perfect for a day trip to feel the ocean breeze and dip some toes into the waves.

A closer favorite for family fun is the North Carolina Zoo located in Asheboro.  Summer may bring a bit too much heat for some to spend a whole day at the zoo.  Fortunately, the cloudy Spring atmosphere provides more shade and comfort for those who want to visit the 1600 animals at the zoo.

Too tired for a day trip?  Who says you need to go anywhere!  Some of the best memories are made right at home.

Have you gone boating on the lakes yet?  Try looking for deer at dusk or finding some nature trails in your own backyard.

A warmer day may be a great opportunity for a cookout at one of the outdoor pavilion grills.

After a long cold winter, it’s great for both parents and children to get out and reintegrate into the community.  Remind yourself of how lovely your own local community is and the many amenities it has to offer.
