Staff Report
The tease of warm days in February has folks thinking of spring flowers, especially after three consecutive snowy Saturdays in January.
Work crews have been prepping the gardens and grounds along Lakeway Drive in recent weeks to get beds ready for spring blooming season.
“What is happening now is a massive cleanup in the garden. I have not seen it look this good at this time of year in the eight years I have lived here,” said Carolyn Sink, president of the Garden Club. “A big thanks to Zach Radcliffe and his crew for all their work in showing us how good our Lakeway Garden can look even in winter.”
Crews cleaned out plant and flower beds, added new mulch and pine straw, pulled out “volunteer” shoots and trimmed the more mature trees and shrubs.
The association and Garden Club are currently working on plans for replacing the deteriorated footbridge that had been a favorite picture spot in the garden.
