On Sat. Nov. 12th, The Recreation Committee of the Seven Lakes Landowners Association hosted a Holiday Bazaar and Chili Cook Off.

Residents had a chance to meet members of the association’s board of directors, who made and served their different chilis. Then participants had the chance to vote on their favorite.

The Recreation Committee extends their thanks to everyone who helped out with this event. Many people helped behind the scenes. Folks contributed their time by contributing to the months of planning; helping with the typing and printing; baking and donating goodies, especially Mary Farley; and setting up and breaking down tables and chairs.

The committee is also grateful for the assistance of the SLLA office staff, the event vendors, the members of the Board of Directors members who made and served chili and the community members that attended.

The chili contest winners now have official bragging rights. The Safety Committee won Best Overall. The Lakes and Dams Committee received the award for Most Creative. And the Safety Committee took home the prize for Spiciest Chili.

Proceeds from all table rentals, chili contest tickets and donated baked goods totaled $700. This is being donated to Moore Free and Charitable Care Clinic in Southern Pines.
