The Women of Seven Lakes have planned several upcoming events, one in February and two in March. If you are not a member yet, it’s not too late to join. Annual dues are $15, payable at the door.
National Wear Red Day
There will be an event in celebration of National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about women and heart disease. Wear red and join in on the February Fun Luncheon and Games event at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 at The Chapel in the Pines.
There will be a heart-healthy lunch of salads, fruit, and rolls. Join a group to learn a new game, play an old favorite or just visit with friends. Bring your favorite games, friends and neighbors. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.
Lunch is $12 per member and $15 for non-members. Please RSVP to ValerieDoolittle@gmail.com or 315-794-1625 by January 23rd.
Membership Meeting
First up in March is the regular membership meeting at 2 p.m. on March 2 at the Chapel in the Pines. Author Ann Haut, a resident of Seven Lakes West, will be the guest speaker.
Ann Haut began her writing career at The Detroit News where she wrote feature articles for Sunday magazine. She moved to public relations and wrote speeches for executives of Fortune 500 corporations. She also contributed to a script delivered by George C. Scott on the NBC television special, Happy Birthday, Bob (Hope), and generated pregame Super Bowl content that aired on the Today show.
Upon the completion of her Ph.D., she edited two volumes on the lifework and teaching of The Rev. Dr. Walter R. Bouman entitled “Jesus is Risen: Theology for the Church.” The process of writing ”Listen to Your Bread,” her first work of fiction, will be the topic of the meeting.
Spring Fashion Show
The club will offer a second March event, a Spring Fashion Show, featuring fashions by Lisa’s Boutique in Carthage and Looking for Linda in Vass. Bring a special tea cup to enjoy the afternoon tea. There will be an array of finger sandwiches and desserts.
This event had been previously scheduled in 2020 and 2021 but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Spring Fashion Show fundraiser will be held from 1-3 p.m. on March 25 at Chapel in the Pines. Tickets are $15 for members and $18 for non-members, and they can be purchased at the March meetings or reserved by sending your payment to Women of Seven Lakes, 850 Seven Lakes North, West End, 27376.
