In Memory of Lore Olsen

Lore Olsen, 88, of Seven Lakes West, passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Herman and Alice (Schuct) Oest. Lore grew up in Palisades Park, N.J., and enjoyed many great times at Palisades Amusement Park as a child.

She met Ralph Olsen at Old Mill Pond in Paramus, N.J. The two married on Aug. 6, 1955, and settled in River Vale, N.J. Lore was an avid tennis player and when the couple relocated to Seven Lakes West in the mid 1990s, she took up golf as well. She holds the distinction of being the only one in the family to make a hole–in–one.

Lore liked to travel, either with her “golf ladies” or her family. She loved spending time in Seaside Park at the Jersey shore and hosting parties for family and friends. She was a phenomenal cook and great hostess with an indelible sense of humor. Lore also enjoyed time with friends playing mahjong and bridge.

Lore was the loving wife of 67 years to Ralph Olsen. She was the mother of Laurie (Olsen) Faig and her significant other, Harry Bowles, RC Olsen and his wife, Susan; and the late Steven Olsen, and daughter-in-law, Tracey Olsen. Lore was “Grandy” to Chris Faig, Brianna (Faig) Deese and her husband, Logan, Erik Olsen and Tara Olsen; niece, Elaine Ganuza (Scullion); her godson and nephew, Gary Scullion, and nephew, Keith Scullion. She was the sister of the late Hazel Scullion.

The Olsen family would like to thank all of our family and friends for the outpouring of support, love, cards, food and especially the time everyone took to visit with Lore in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lore’s memory may be made to Chapel In The Pines ( Mission Team in memory of Lore Olsen), 2125 Severn Lakes South, West End, NC 27376.
