The Women of Seven Lakes held its biggest annual fundraising event on
Dec. 2. At this “Pancake Breakfast with Santa” event, lots of delicious pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee were served. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus were there to hear the children’s wishes for Christmas.
Of course, there were plenty of Santa’s helpers there too. The club wants to extend a big ‘Thank You’ to all those who volunteered to make this fundraiser a success, including those involved in the planning, preparation, cooking, greeting, serving, working of the tables and cleanup.
The children were so happy to see Santa and to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. A special thanks to Santa and Mrs. Claus and to the pianist for this event, Johanna Webber.
There were 182 tickets sold for this event, including those for 29 children. The Women of Seven Lakes donates to local nonprofits including Chapel in the Pines, Sandhills/Moore Coalition, the West End Food Pantry, Friend to Friend, Tambra Place, Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue, West End Fire Department and Partners for Children and Families.
The group is excited about the success of this event and subsequent donations to be made in the future.
Note that there will be no Women of Seven Lakes member meeting or event in January. The group will celebrate National Wear Red Day to raise awareness about women and heart disease at its next meeting on Thursday, Feb. 1. There will be a short meeting, lunch and then games to follow. Bring your favorite games, friends and neighbors. Learn a new game or play an old favorite game.
Flyers with more details about the February event will be posted in the Seven Lakes North, Seven Lakes South and Seven Lakes West mailrooms and at the West End Post Office. There will also be updates on the Women of Seven Lakes Facebook page.
