The Kiwanis Club of Seven Lakes will be flipping flapjacks for the 42nd year this spring. Everyone in the community is invited to indulge in the pancake breakfast from 7:30-10:30 a.m. on March 29 at West End United Methodist Church, 4015 NC-73, West End.
The fundraiser benefits the children of Seven Lakes, West End and Moore County. West End Elementary School, West Pine Middle School, Elise Middle School in Robbins School and the North Moore Resource Center have previously benefited from the support of the club.
The event was hosted at West End Elementary school for four decades until the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the event being suspended.
When the community-event staple returned in 2023, it moved to the Methodist church which substantially upgraded its kitchen during the intervening years.
This will be the third year at the new location, and the club is hoping for a great turnout of folks looking to fill up on pancakes and sausage. Prior years saw upwards of 450 to 500 diners.
The club believes the annual pancake breakfast is not just a worthy fundraiser, but a welcome opportunity to socialize with neighbors and enjoy a meal.
Club members will throw on aprons and sidle up to the griddle. Members are dedicated to the Kiwanis Club purpose of improving the lives of children. Tickets are $12 for the all-you-can-eat breakfast and all children under age eight eat for free. To purchase tickets, contact Jerry Sink at jwsink883@gmail.com.
