Foxfire Village’s first coffee shop, The Foxbrew Coffee House, is now open. Located just around the corner from the Foxfire Village Town Hall, the shop adds to the list of businesses in Foxfire that can be counted on one hand.
Denna Schreiner, who opened and later sold Kitten Around Cat Lounge in Carthage, says she wasn’t really looking to open a coffee shop. When she realized the space was available, she and her husband, Chris, who are Foxfire residents, decided to take the leap.
“We wanted a gathering space for the community,” Schreiner says. “I thought ‘what is a good space for people to gather?’ A cozy coffee shop.”
The Foxbrew Coffee House is located in Suite 11 in the shopping center at 2145 Foxfire Road, Jackson Springs.
“Foxfire was established in 1967 and I think this is the original town hall,” says Schreiner. The building also houses a small realty office and apartments.
Schreiner would love to see book clubs and bible studies use the space. “I think anything can be done with coffee,” she laughs. The shop will have a kids area, used books for sale and both Foxfire and Foxbrew Coffee House merch.

“Nowhere around here sells Foxfire merch,” she says. “I love small, quaint areas like this. Foxfire makes a point to make sure lots are big and there are lots of trees.”
Foxbrew will be a true family business with Schreiner’s oldest daughter Ava, 16, helping to run the show as her first job.
“It’ll be like a small business class for her,” says Schreiner.
The shop will feature a full coffee menu with alternative milk options as well as smoothies, teas, baked goods from G. Charles Bakery in Aberdeen and fresh Belgian-style waffles. The menu is subject to change for the warmer months. Schreiner is most excited for some of her signature drinks such as “The Fox Brew” made with maple, butter pecan and hazelnut or “The Fox Squirrel” made with caramel, butterscotch and toffee.

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The shop will be closed Sunday.
