In keeping with its mission to serve the community, the Women of Seven Lakes recently reflected on the group’s accomplishments during this past program year.
The group kicked off the year in September with a successful collection drive, gathering pencils, glue sticks and tissues for West End Elementary School.
Throughout the year, it hosted several fundraisers, including the Pancake Breakfast, Spring Fashion Show, and Flower Power Fundraiser, raising over $4,000. These funds will be distributed to eight local nonprofit organizations: West End Food Bank, Chapel in the Pines, Sandhills Moore Coalition, Partners for Children and Families, Tambra Place, Friend to Friend, Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue and the West End Fire Department.
In addition to fundraising, the organization sponsored two blood drives, one in October and one in May, collecting over 80 units of blood to help meet urgent community needs.
Members played a vital role in these efforts, volunteering at events, contributing to collections, providing refreshments for meetings, supporting the Sandhills Moore Coalition and even donating blood.
Its next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 4. In the meantime, the board will continue to meet and plan an engaging and impactful program for the upcoming year, offering plenty of opportunities for members to get involved and make a difference.
