Seven Lakes Garden Club enjoyed the annual social event in December. The tea features baked treats made by the club board members and two special teas brewed and served in member teacups.
One of the sharing activities is learning about the special teacups the members bring for their tea. Tea is always better in a porcelain cup.
Showing care for the community, members contributed cornmeal muffin mix, canned fruit, and cash for the West End United Methodist Church Food Pantry. An impressive amount of food and cash were collected and delivered to the food pantry.
The sharing continued with a demonstration on repotting seasonal Amaryllis to avoid the beautiful, top-heavy plant crashing to the floor and making a mess. Use a heavy pot, set the bulb at the proper soil level, top it off with decorative stones and marbles and use natural materials from your garden to provide support.
Participants shared ideas for Christmas presents for gardeners. Gardeners love good tools. A healthy, attractive garden is a labor of love and a lot of work. Constant diligence is required to extract weeds, prune, and maintain healthy soil. Tools that ease the tasks are always welcome. Ideas ranged from a repotting mat to a tree removal tool for those invasive saplings.
The joyful fellowship event culminated with three raffle prizes of a sample box of all the treats and Christmas Cactus.
