Join The Chapel in the Pines this Saturday for the performance of their Community Choir!
The choir is directed by Edward Lee. He has been in charge of this event for the past six years with the help of his wife, Tamara.
Lee has always had a passion for music, and joined a choir at Carthage United Methodist during his freshman year of high school. From then on, his interest only grew.
Now Lee not only directs the choir, but he also instructs them through his original compositions, two of which will be heard on December 17th. This is the Second Annual Seven Lakes Community Choir.
Lee gathered the choir together to begin practice back in September. They will be performing this weekend at both The Chapel in the Pines and Carthage United Methodist Church.
The Community Choir consists of thirty to forty members, and includes live instruments including two violins, a viola, a cello, two flutes, and two guitars.
This year, the Community Choir includes members of Carthage United Methodist Church, West End Presbyterian Church, Jackson Spring
Presbyterian Church, and Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
At the end of the performance, there will be a big Christmas sing along for everyone to join in.
“The purpose of the choir is [to provide] an opportunity for the
community to come together and worship and sing!,” Lee said.
The performance will take place at The Chapel in the Pines on Saturday, December 17th at 5:00pm. The Chapel is located at 581 Seven Lakes Drive in West End.
The Carthage event is the next night. Sunday, December 16 at 5:00pm at Carthage United Methodist Church, located at 401 McReynolds Street, Carthage.
