After nearly twenty-five years of serving the community, Phil and Kathy Cook have decided to step out of the shop and into retirement.
After working in a car shop for eleven years, David Dew from Greensboro took over Carolina Car Care with the help of an unnamed partner. Their goal is to serve the community with the same quality service Phil and Kathy provided while making improvements at the shop.
“They did this community a huge service for years. We want to continue that,” Dew said.
When Dew found Carolina Car Care, he realized the “untapped potential” that the shop possessed.
“It made sense to come into an area like this,” he said.
Growing up, his family would take regular trips through Seven Lakes several times a month.
“I want to continue to serve the community and become a member of it,” he said. “I grew up coming down here.”
Dew plans to work with the Carolina Car Care team with a family-like atmosphere and “rise together.” Their motto is to always put the customer first.
“[My favorite thing is] providing service to customers that goes above and beyond and the reaction that it gets,” he said. “It’s all about setting up a good team.”
Dew also owns two other car shops – one in Raleigh and one in Greensboro. He has been a car shop owner for about a year and a half.
“It’s just taking a model and applying it elsewhere… It’s relying on the ability of others and extending that,” he said.
Dew is eager to learn the dynamics of the community as he continues to provide quality service.
“I want to get to know how business works here,” he said. “I always felt a connection to the area. It’s good to come back and be a part of it again.”
