Moore Regional and Moore Regional – Richmond Receive an “A” for Patient Safety in Fall 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade
PINEHURST – FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital – Richmond have both earned an “A” grade on Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades that were announced October 31 by The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health care system.
The designation marks the third consecutive “A” rating for Moore Regional Hospital and the second “A” rating for Moore Regional Hospital – Richmond.
Only 832 hospitals received the “A” ranking, positioning both campuses among the safest hospitals in the United States.
“We are pleased to once again earn the ‘A’ designation from The Leapfrog Group,” says David J. Kilarski, CEO of FirstHealth of the Carolinas. “This designation is a reflection of the concerted effort made by both our clinical and quality teams to improve patient safety and clinical quality throughout our health network.”
Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
“We remain highly-focused on creating an exceptional patient experience for every patient we serve,” says Cindy McDonald, R.N., vice president of quality for FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. “Earning this top grade once again affirms that Moore Regional ranks among the top hospitals for safe, quality care.”
