At the Moore County Agricultural Center in Carthage, Deborah McGiffin has the opportunity to work with community members and local farmers.
McGiffin worked in Durham in Food & Nutrition before coming to Moore County.
“I really enjoy it,” she said.
A day at work could consist of going out to local farms or preparing for events. Recently, McGiffin helped with Farm Week.
“[This job is] different every day,” she said.
Not only does the Agricultural Center support the community and farmers, but they also provide summer camps and 4-H opportunities for children.
They are trying to help smaller local farms to increase their income through agritourism – a process which allows individuals to come and take a tour of the farm.
