Cancer Survivor’s Day

Liz Stern (third from right), current president of the Sandhills Quilters and FirstHealth toymaker volunteer for more than 11 years, presents the Cancer Survivors Day Quilt to FirstHealth Survivors Day planning committee staff (from left) Jennifer Thomason, Tiffany Pate, Tina Thompson, Barry Baber, R.N., and Wendy Krueger at Moore Regional Hospital on July 12, 2019.  The theme of the 2019 Cancer Survivors Day event at FirstHealth was, “Alone we are just a square, but together we are a quilt.”  Each Survivors Day attendee created their own quilt square to represent their triumph over cancer, and Stern assembled them all to form a 100-square Cancer Survivors Day quilt.  The quilt will be on display in the FirstHealth Outpatient Cancer Center for all to enjoy.
