The NC Wildlife Commission will provide a Green Growth Toolbox workshop hosted by Moore County Planning on October 18, 2019 at Weymouth Woods State Park in Southern Pines. Registration is free and details are available at: https://www.ncwildlife.org/Conserving/Programs/Green-Growth-Toolbox/Training-Workshops
This workshop provides detailed information on how to minimize impacts to wildlife and natural resources in land use and transportation planning.
The Green Growth Toolbox (www.ncwildlife.org/greengrowth) was developed by the N.C. Wildlife Commission. It is a non-regulatory tool for planners, local governments, communities, and developers regarding how to conserve declining, priority wildlife habitat in land use planning. Guidance focuses on incentives and removing regulatory and other barriers to conservation.
The NC Natural Heritage Program (www.ncnhp.org) is an information clearinghouse on the conservation of the rarest and most outstanding elements of natural diversity in our state.
The Natural Heritage Data Explorer website was created by the N.C. Natural Heritage Program and ‘NatureServe’ to improve public access to natural heritage data. Workshop participants will be eligible for a subscription and an account with enhanced data access by completing this portion of the workshop training. https://ncnhde.natureserve.org/
Planners who take GGT workshops are eligible to apply for funding through our Partners for Green Growth cost-share program.
Hope to see you there and please help spread the word!
