Gentle Flow Yoga At North Side Clubhouse

As of Wednesday, February 19th, instructor Pamela Durkin E-RYT 200, RPYT now offers Gentle Flow Yoga classes at the Seven Lakes North clubhouse. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30PM to 7:30PM and will be five dollars a session. There is no need for registration, as the classes are available on a walk-in basis for all Seven Lakes community members. Members may also bring a guest to attend classes.

Gentle Flow Yoga focuses on slow, gentle movements in tune with one’s breathing to leave participants feeling more grounded, calmer, and relaxed. Classes will incorporate sequences of gentle stretching and strengthening movements with awareness of one’s breathing for a maximum positive effect on both the body and the psyche.

“In Gentle Flow Yoga we will move mindfully with the breath to invite self-awareness,” explained Durkin. “You will be encouraged to explore the poses and move in a way that feels right in your body. You’ll walk out of class ready to take on the rest of your week.”

Due to its slow pace and soft movements, Gentle Flow Yoga is suitable for all age groups and experience levels from beginners to masters. The use of props and modifications is always welcomed to help make the poses more accessible for each individual.

Participants are encouraged to bring their yoga mats, water, and any personal props they would like to use, though the class will have props available to share.

“I consider the main benefit of taking this class to be taking some time to nurture yourself, to calm your mind, slow down the breath, and let tension melt away,” explained Durkin.

For many, an hour of meditation, reflection, and restoration is much needed, especially when combined with stretches and exercises that promote physical wellbeing.

“We all come to our mat for different reasons,” Durkin stated. “Yoga helps us to find self-awareness and teaches us to be kinder and more compassionate and accepting of ourselves. These are all good things to take with you when you step off of your mat!”
