Fall Bazaar/Chili Cookoff and Christmas Party: Fun Times Planned for SLLA Residents

BY MAGGIE BEAMGUARD, Insider Editor

Residents of Seven Lakes North and South have fun opportunities to socialize this November and December thanks to the planning of the SLLA Recreation Committee, chaired by Mary Farley.

The committee will kick things off with the Fall Bazaar and Chili Cookoff on Nov. 12 at the North Clubhouse from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It will provide an opportunity to do some holiday shopping with vendors selling jewelry, art, canned goods, ornaments and more.

A variety of crafts will be available for sale. Tables are available for crafter’s to reserve ranging from $5-10. Crafters must register in advance to reserve a table. Email SLLArecreation@gmail.com to reserve your space.

A new feature of the bazaar is the Chili Cook Off. Farley hopes it will be a fun way for the community to come together and get to know the board members.

Each of the Seven Lakes Landowner Association Committees will enter their specialty blend of chili for the contest. You can purchase a $5 ticket at the door to sample the chili and vote for your favorite. The committee that wins will get bragging rights. All proceeds will be donated to Moore Free and Charitable Clinic.

While you are there, don’t miss the baked goods and beverages provided by members of the Recreation Committee or the door prizes.

A family-style Christmas party is being planned for Dec. 11 from 3-5 p.m. in the North Clubhouse. Gail Summers will be playing a Yamaha piano, recently rescued from storage. Participants will enjoy Christmas music, games, a ladies dance group, and hors d’oeuvres.

Everyone is invited to bring their own beverage. Children are invited to bring a handmade or hand-picked ornament to add to the Christmas tree.

“It should be a lot of fun,” said Farley. “It’s not too commercial. It’s just a way to get together and be social.”
