Fire Captain Matthew Britt Presented with Managing Officer Program Certificate

Captain Matthew Britt

On January 4th, 2017, Captain Matthew Britt of the Seven Lakes Fire Department was presented with a certificate of completion of the Managing Officer program.

Captain Britt became involved with the Seven Lakes Fire Department in 2003 and claims that the Seven Lakes firefighters are the reason he was able to achieve this certificate.

“[They’re] a great group of guys,” he said.  “I couldn’t have done it without them.”

The certificate was presented by Fire Chief Chris King.  Captain Britt has spent the past two years earning the certificate, traveling to Maryland to complete the necessary training at the US Fire Administration National Fire Academy.

He has received “instruction on leadership, shaping the future, community risk reduction, safety leadership, contemporary training issues, and analytical tools for decision making.”  With his training, Captain Britt was able to learn key skills and apply them to real-life situations.

Captain Britt is the first of the Seven Lakes Fire Department to have completed the Managing Officer program.
