Since its founding over 10 years ago, Moore County’s Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 966 has collected and disbursed more than $62,000 in support of needy veterans from all conflicts.
One of hundreds of chapters of the VVA across the country, Chapter 966 holds fundraisers during the year and keeps touch with other local veteran’s organizations and services to identify needy candidates for financial aid. Other fund raisers include special offers from local merchants and restaurants who contribute a portion of their proceeds, as well as private donations from the community.
Today, the VVA comprises over 75,000 members in over 500 chapters located in all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and other territories. It is headquartered in Maryland and publishes a bi-monthly newspaper to each of its members.
Chapter 966 is headquartered in the West End / Seven Lakes area but serves all of Moore County. It normally meets on the first Monday of each month in the Seven Lakes West Community Center. Their next meetings are on April 3rd, May 1st and June 5th. For additional information,
