After a terrible fire that took place on August 2nd, claiming the life of an elderly individual, the West End Fire Department decided to begin doing home inspections.
“It’s not a full home inspection, per say,” explained Chief Eric Stromberg. “We walk around and make sure they’re being safe with hos they store things and with extension cords and things.”
On August 2nd, WEFD got a call around 11:30pm and rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, the home was a total loss and resulted in the first fatality the West End Fire Department had experienced in 22 years.
Responding to the scene were fire & rescue squads from West End, Eastwood, Seven Lakes, Pinehurst, Pinebluff, Aberdeen, and Derby. Also on the scene was Moore County EMS, Sheriff’s Department, Public Safety, Foxfire Police Department, and ATF.
