On Saturday, June 10th, the Seven Lakes North & South Recreation Committee hosted an all-day event to celebrate the start of summer.
The event included fishing tournaments, basketball tournaments, swimming races, splash contests, and kayak races. Hamburgers and hot dogs were also provided to residents.
Winners of the fishing tournament include Josh Hodges with the biggest bass of 15.5 inches and Maggie Bowman who had the biggest Bream of nine inches. Maggie’s little brother also won the title of “Youngest Angler,” participating in the event at just twenty-six months old.
During the Basketball tournament, five teams competed. Lucas’ Team was declared to be the winning team.
During the afternoon, Nathan Hodges won the kayak race – completing the course in just under three minutes.
The event proved to be a success with many families participating in the events and cheering one another during competitions.
“None of this would happen if it were not for the consistent volunteer efforts of the members of our community lead by the Members of the Recreation Committee,” stated Rod Ansley via email.
