A local man died in a single vehicle accident Wednesday night outside of Seven Lakes.
Emergency responders were dispatched at 9:26 pm to a vehicle accident on Holly Grove School Road off of NC Highway 211 with reports that the person might not be breathing.
The first arriving emergency units found a Toyota Tundra pickup truck on its side with the driver still in the vehicle. After assessing the victim it was determined that the man was deceased at the scene of the accident.
Authorities identified the victim as 59 year old James Domingos from a Mt Carmel Road address outside of Carthage.
A large dog was also in the truck when it wrecked. The dog appeared to have minor injuries to one of its hind legs. A Sheriff’s Deputy placed a rope around the dog to create a makeshift leash and stayed with the animal until Animal Control could arrive on the scene to assist.
Holly Grove School Road was totally blocked to traffic for more than an hour and a half while the accident was investigated and the victim removed from the vehicle.
Responding to this incident were units with Seven Lakes Fire & Rescue, West End Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Moore County Animal Control, NC Medical Examiner’s Office and the NC State Highway Patrol.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the NC State Highway Patrol as of this report.
