Beacon Ridge Hires New Marketing Director

Born in North Carolina, Gregg Hunt recently moved back to The Old North State after having a successful Sales and Marketing career in Northern Virginia, working for up to eight golf clubs, all at the same time.

“This is where I want to be,” Gregg’s wife Carolyn said after they first toured their home in Seven Lakes West.

Shortly after moving in, Gregg decided to spend some of his free time volunteering at Beacon Ridge.  After meeting owner Raymond Ou, it was decided that Gregg would help handle marketing for Beacon Ridge.

Afterwards, Gregg noticed that the Beacon Ridge newsletter made it official – he was their new Sales & Marketing Director.

Gregg’s career in the golf industry began in Virginia.  When the Club he was at was in need for a Membership Director, he chose to give it a try.  He immediately was successful. The Club he represented had a waiting list for the first time in its history.  Word spread, and he was able to parlay his business degree education and natural talent to his advantage, allowing him to start his own company: The Membership Advantage.

The Membership Advantage successfully marketed and sold memberships for eight private country clubs in a very competitive market outside of Washington, DC.  Success did not come easily.  It required Gregg to work long hours, and was made especially challenging due to the fact that he had three children to help raise.  Luckily, one of the Clubs made him an offer to work as an employee as the Director of Sales & Marketing, so he ended his relationships with the other seven, remaining there for the next 22 years.

Now that Gregg is at Beacon Ridge, he plans to use his talents to both connect with the community and attract new members.  His goal is to add value to membership by offering a more robust tournament schedule, as well as new and exciting social events for golfers and non-golfers alike.

“It’s not just value; it’s doing things with people you enjoy and spending time with them,” Gregg said.

Two new promotions at Beacon Ridge include a “Senior Play Day Thursday” where seniors aged 60+ can enjoy a round of golf for $25 after 10:00 a.m.  “Kids Play Free Fridays” allow children under age 16 to play for free with a paying adult after 1:00 p.m.  Beacon Ridge also has a promotion that allows you to get 17 months of membership for the price of 12 months – a great value!

Gregg also hopes to start social events such as Birdies & Brews, food truck festivals, and community gatherings.  He is currently working on changing the atmosphere of Beacon Ridge to be more community-friendly.

“It’s a labor of love,” Gregg said.  “At the end of the day, I want to leave this place better than when I found it.”

Gregg had never worked for a sole owner.  After meeting with Raymond and seeing his good heart and intentions, he knew he had to help.  “Beacon Ridge is a diamond in the rough – I hope to help make it as successful as everyone wants it to be,” Gregg said.

Gregg’s efforts will help to give Beacon Ridge the best reputation and keep home values up in the community.

“You’ve got one chance to do this right,” Gregg said.

Beacon Ridge is located at 238 Longleaf Drive in West End.  To schedule a tee time, call the Pro Shop at (910) 673-2950.  Email Gregg if you are interested in membership at beaconridgegolf@gmail.com.
